How does a polar bear stay warm?

The thermoregulating system of a polar bear is very sophisticated. Of course the bear has a great insulating fur, but also a lot of routines and strategies to keep the warmth inside. Short ears, legs and tail also help. His problem could be how to get rid of to much warmth after running for a while.
