Mutation and selection
by: Biology teacher

Darwinian evolution works like imagination, it is creative. Through aleatory genetic mutations new proteins can be created and, if successful, selected and the new gene kept in the genome. By modification of its amino acid chain (primary structure), any protein can change into a totally different protein, with change of its secondary, tertiary and even quaternary structure. So, it is creativity in action. All those changes, however, are controlled by natural selection.
