In contrast to plants, animals have a skeleton to give them structure. Plants get their structure from turgor pressure (if the turgor becomes low, i.e. wilting during drought, the plant's structure collapses). Plants can only create and maintain turgor because of the rigid cell wall that prevents the cells from bursting.
