It is possible to make 38 ATP molecules during the process of aerobic respiration.

6 ATP molecules during glycolysis are produced, but since 2 are used to provide the initial energy for the reaction we have an overall gain of 4 ATP molecules.

The electron transport chain can produce around 34 molecules of ATP.

This brings our netgain of ATP to 38 molecules...
