If one sections the dorsal root of the spinal nerve and stimulates the central side will there be a response?

As far as i know it's supposed to launch a nervous message that propagates from the sensory neuron towards the interneuron in the grey matter of the spinal cord and then towards the motor neuron in the ventral root so there will be a response accompanied by sensation, right?
