Fatty acids

Saturated fatty acids are those which contain no double bands while in unsaturated fatty acids there may be up to 6 double bonds.

When we refer to saturated fatty acids, we are saying that the fatty acid chain is all single bonded. On the other hand an unsaturated fatty acid has at least on double bond in the chain; or it could have more than one in the same chain.

Saturated fats have more bonds. Unsaturated fats replace two C-H bonds and one C-C with a single C=C bond. Three single bonds go, one double bond formed.
