Why can not we make bones?

I am not a biology student but just for knowledge I want to know when a person bone get breaks, why we put rod to join it why we cannot make same bones with the chemicals and then put it back in the body?

Note of editor: Good question. Some issues are: tissue rejection, biomaterial technologies, bone is an irrigated by blood tissue that needs oxygen, nutrients, etc.
