Why do living things reproduce?
My question is related to the Evolution theory. This theory explains the law of natural selection and survival of fittest. But it does not throw any light on the very basic facts. It tells us that only those who can adapt themselves can survive but it does not tell why a living creature want or have a desire to survive. It may seem very obvious that all living creature have a natural tendency to survive. But I don't think so. Unless there is some kind of need such desire is not possible. Similarly is the question of why living creatures reproduce. The most popular answer to the question is to continue its species. But how can a microorganism who doesn't know about itself think about its species?
