Why the meiosis process is necessary for gametogenesis to occur?
Gametogenesis is the process of producing sex cells or gametes so that when each parent contributes them a union (zygote) will be formed carrying the exact number of chromosomes that are present in each of the parents. Meiosis is the process that insures that these gametes contain half the original number of chromosomes to allow the fertilization process to work insuring the zygote contains the proper chromosome number.
